“I like to do things with shoes where you’re not expecting to see shoes,” said Louboutin in an interview with WWD.
The show was held at the Piscine Molitor in Paris.Louboutin and David LaChapelle, an American photographer and music director, put their visions together and brought in Blanca Li, who choreographed the swimmers’ dance.
“Something the three of us have in common is our love for dance,” Louboutin told Elle of the trio’s collaboration on the piece. “Bianca made it her world, David some of his major artworks, and me; I also started by designing shoes for dancers.”
The presentation was an ode to the water ballets of 1950s Hollywood, creatively combining fashion, dance, and sports to create a beautiful show.
LaChapelle’s cinematic projections were reflected onto the pool in different colors. There were fountains and blow-ups of Miss Z pumps, the new Louboutin shoes that are set to debut early next year

The swimmers from the French Olympic artistic swimming team graced the audience’s presence through their beautiful and captivating performance moments. Each swimmer entered the pool in the iconic Miss Z pumps and continued to wear them throughout the entirety of the synchronized dance performance.
At the end of the dance, LaChapelle jumped into the pool, joining the rest of the group. Christian Louboutin closed the show by playfully sliding down the waterslide shaped like a life-size shoe.
